What I Love About TAEA: The reason why I love TAEA is that it empowers each region in Texas to advocate the visual arts year round. Students have the opportunity to exhibit art at the state level through TASA/TASB State exhibits, Capital YAM exhibits, and Gold Seal Exhibits. They may participate in state competitions through TEAM/VASE and celebrate their creativity through YAM/Big Art day events.

Hello Region 1 Colleagues!

Thank you for the opportunity to work with you all. I have been an art educator for 25 years and have been involved in many community projects throughout the region. I believe that districts should collaborate together to strengthen visual art programs in their region. Collaboration among TAEA members at the district level is the key to keeping our programs alive and relevant. As your representative, expect me to help advocate your programs and listen to your ideas. We are a community of creative people and all share a common purpose; to celebrate our youth and to advocate art as an essential part of an individual's life.

I am looking forward to working with teachers, principals, superintendents, colleges, and museums to coordinate regional art exhibits and annual mini- conferences. Four seasonal Region 1 newsletters will be available to Region 1 members and superintendents each year. In addition to the newsletter, please join our Facebook group TAEA Region 1 to post photos, events. For TAEA Region 1, please use the hashtag #region1TAEA for posts on social media. We will use #region1YAMtx for Youth Art Month posts.
