What I Love About TAEA: I have learned from sessions and gotten lots of ideas from attending them, but it is hard to top getting to be around so many great art educators. I love the friendships and support you get from colleagues at TAEA.

What I Love About TAEA: TAEA's commitment to fostering a cohesive visual arts professional community effectively advocates for the significance of arts education and creative expression in our dynamic and evolving society. I love that TAEA unites individuals from across the state of Texas through constructive opportunities for growth, support, and collaboration.

Welcome!

The Museum Division of TAEA is an ever-growing group of educators who promote and support Texas's great art museums. In that spirit, we welcome all TAEA members to participate in our activities. If you would like to become involved, please send us your email address and we'll be sure to keep you posted on our happenings.

My name is Thuy Garcia, and I have nine years of experience teaching art in public elementary and middle schools. I now work as the Art Education Manager at the Museum of the Southwest in Midland, Texas. I have been a proud member of the TAEA network since I began teaching in 2014. I became an art teacher because I love art, and I want to share that passion with others. I believe that art is a powerful way to express oneself, communicate ideas, and explore different cultures and perspectives. I enjoy helping students discover their own creativity and appreciate the beauty and diversity of art.

As the Museum Chair-Elect, I hope to:

  • Work closely with the current Museum Division Chair and learn from their experience
  • Support and advance the cause of art education among museum educators
  • Create more avenues for art engagement beyond the formal school setting

Texas Art Education Outreach

TAEO promotes and offers successful quality art education support to Texas art educators through mentoring and professional development presentations.

  • What can you do to help the members you serve?
  • Do you know a good presenter?
  • Do you know someone who would be a great mentor?
  • Can you send information from people who reach out to you?
  • Can you reach out to other art educators?

TAEO can help with presenters and mentors.

Let's help each other to prepare, support, and encourage Texas art educators.
