Foster creativity, artistic expression, and critical thinking while helping students develop the skills needed to succeed academically and socially. Qualifications Education/Certification Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university Valid Texas teaching certificate with appropriate endorsements for assigned subject and grade level Demonstrated competency in art instruction and core academic content Special Knowledge/Skills Knowledge of elementary art curriculum and instructional strategies Ability to create engaging, student-centered learning experiences Strong classroom management skills Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills Ability to integrate technology into instruction Experience Student teaching experience or completion of an approved alternative certification internship program Major Responsibilities and Duties Instructional Strategies Develop and implement lesson plans aligned with district curriculum and Texas standards Prepare lessons that accommodate varying student learning styles and abilities Use instructional materials, technology, and strategies that promote student engagement and creativity Assess student learning and use results to guide instruction Collaborate with special education staff to modify instruction as needed for students with IEPs Work collaboratively with colleagues to support instructional goals and campus initiatives Supervise teacher aides and volunteers as assigned Student Growth and Development Encourage positive study habits, creativity, and self-expression Monitor and assess student progress through formal and informal assessments Participate in extracurricular and campus activities as assigned Serve as a positive role model and support the mission of the school district Classroom Management and Organization Create a classroom environment that is safe, inclusive, and conducive to learning Manage student behavior in accordance with district policies and the Student Code of Conduct Maintain and care for classroom equipment, materials, and supplies Assist in selecting instructional materials and resources Communication Maintain open and professional communication with parents, students, and staff Participate in conferences, meetings, and campus activities Present information clearly and effectively Professional Growth and Development Participate in professional development opportunities Comply with all district, campus, and state policies and procedures Maintain accurate records, reports, and documentation Attend faculty meetings and serve on committees as required Supervisory Responsibilities Supervise assigned teacher aide(s), if applicable Working Conditions Maintain emotional control under stress. Frequent standing, stooping, bending, pulling, and pushing may be required. Ability to move classroom materials and equipment as needed.
