Welcome to the 2025 Texas Art Education Association Annual Conference at the Kalahari Resort and Convention Center in Round Rock, Texas, November 20–22! We are excited to gather with colleagues, friends, and advocates of art education for three inspiring days of learning, sharing, and celebrating creativity.
This year's conference features dynamic workshops, engaging sessions, an energetic exhibit hall, and keynotes from internationally recognized artist Deborah Roberts and Texas painter Sari Shryack. 1 Pre-service art education students must email a copy of their conference registration receipt along with a copy of their current, valid college or university ID to by 11/16/2025. Also, pre-service students are required to attend the Student Division meeting on Saturday and must volunteer for two hours of service while attending conference. Deborah Roberts (American, b. 1962) is a mixed media artist whose work challenges the notion of ideal beauty. Her work has been exhibited internationally across the USA and Europe. Roberts' work is in the collections of the Whitney Museum of American Art, New York, New York; Brooklyn Museum, New York, New York; The Studio Museum in Harlem, New York, New York; LACMA, Los Angeles, California; the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts, Richmond, Virginia, Guggenheim Museum, New York, New York, and the Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth, Fort Worth, Texas, among several other institutions. She was selected to participate in the Robert Rauschenberg Residency (2019) and was a finalist for the 2019 Outwin Boochever Portrait Competition, as well as the recipient of the Anonymous Was A Woman Grant (2018), and the Pollock-Krasner Foundation Grant (2016). Texas Metal of Arts Award (2023) Roberts received her MFA from Syracuse University, New York. She lives and works in Austin, Texas. Roberts is represented by Stephen Friedman Gallery, London and Susanne Vielmetter Los Angeles Projects, CA.
Sari Shryack is an oil and acrylic painter based out of Taylor, Texas. Her bright and colorful works cover many different subjects, including landscape, still life, portraits, and disco balls, to name a few. Born in 1991, Sari attended Drury University and studied under painting professor Todd Lowery; she graduated with a degree in Fine Arts in 2014. Sari lives with her husband and two children.
