What I Love About TAEA: I love that TAEA has provided a platform for Visual Art Educators to come together to collaborate, encourage, and inspire each other through all of the Art resources provided, Conferences/PD's, and leadership opportunities. As an Art Teacher, all of my experiences, with TAEA, have translated into the Art room! I especially love that TAEA has founded VASE which has given our students a voice. Seeing the excitement on a student's face of accomplishment through recognition at VASE is the ultimate reward! I am blessed to be part of such an amazing team who serves our biggest fans, our Visual Art Students! Thank you TAEA!

I am Christina Moreno, and thank you for allowing me to serve as your Regional Representative. I am currently a Visual Arts Educator and Department Chair at G.W. Carver Magnet High School in Aldine ISD, where I teach Art I, Art II–IV Printmaking and Painting, and AP 2D Drawing. I have served students across elementary and high school levels in Aldine ISD since 2017 and also currently serve as the TAEA Regional Director for JrVASE Region 4. I am dedicated to fostering a love of art in my students and supporting fellow educators, and I believe strongly in TAEA's mission to advocate for and elevate the impact of visual arts education across our region.

As Regional Representative, I envision a region where art educators are connected, empowered, and supported through inclusive programming, professional development, and collaborative leadership—ultimately cultivating a unified community where the value of art education is recognized, celebrated, and advanced.

As your Regional Representative, my goals include:

  • Membership Recruitment — TAEA offers invaluable resources, advocacy, and opportunities for both teachers and students. I am committed to reaching out to art educators in our region who are not currently members to ensure they feel welcomed, informed, and encouraged to join our professional community. Expanding membership strengthens our collective voice and impact.
  • Participation in TAEA Activities — I will actively support and promote engagement in Youth Art Month (YAM), VASE/JrVASE/TEAM events, Fall Conference, and other TAEA initiatives. My goal is to increase regional participation and ensure that teachers feel confident navigating these programs while celebrating student achievement at every level.
  • Professional Development Opportunities — I am dedicated to facilitating meaningful professional development that re-energizes and inspires educators. Through collaboration, workshops, and potential mini-conference opportunities, I aim to provide relevant, high-quality learning experiences that reflect the diverse needs of our region. I welcome ideas and partnerships from members who are interested in helping expand professional development offerings.
  • Communication & Community Building — Clear and consistent communication is essential to a thriving region. I will prioritize timely updates, accessible information, and open dialogue so members feel connected and supported. My goal is to cultivate a strong network of educators committed to collaboration, advocacy, and student success.

I am excited to represent our region and look forward to serving you during my term as Regional Representative. Together, we can continue to elevate art education, support one another professionally, and create meaningful opportunities for our students. Please feel free to reach out with ideas, questions, or ways you would like to see our region grow. I look forward to working alongside you.

Thank you, God Bless.
