What I Love About TAEA: The reason why I love TAEA is that it empowers each region in Texas to advocate the visual arts year round. Students have the opportunity to exhibit art at the state level through TASA/TASB State exhibits, Capital YAM exhibits, and Gold Seal Exhibits. They may participate in state competitions through TEAM/VASE and celebrate their creativity through YAM/Big Art day events.

Greetings, Region 1 Colleagues!

With 25 years in art education and deep roots in our community, I am honored to serve as your representative. I believe that district-level collaboration is the heartbeat of our success — by working together, we ensure our visual arts programs remain vibrant, relevant, and essential.

My goal is to be your advocate and your listener as we celebrate our youth and the power of creativity.

What's Ahead:

• Partnerships: Coordinating with schools, museums, and leadership for regional exhibits and mini-conferences.
• Communication: Look for four seasonal newsletters annually (sent to members and superintendents).
• Community: Join our TAEA Region 1 Facebook group and use hashtags #region1TAEA and #region1YAMtx (for Youth Art Month) to showcase your work.
• Art, Heart, & AI Workshop at 2026 TAEA Conference
• TAEA Region 1 Meeting at 2026 TAEA Conference
