What Is the txEDCON (TASA / TASB) Convention?

Every year TASA / TASB (the Texas Association of School Administrators and the Texas Association of School Boards) meet for a fall convention - txEDCON. TAEA Youth Art Month presents an exhibition during this convention to continue to advocate for visual arts throughout the year!

Convention Highlights

At txEDCON (TASA / TASB), there will be an amazing exhibition of student artwork in the Visual Art Advocacy booth, where attendees can learn more about the importance of quality visual arts programs at the local, regional, and state levels, as well as, student artist-led interactive demonstrations.

Student Exhibit

Every year at txEDCON (TASA / TASB), TAEA presents a student exhibit featuring work from Pre-K - 12th grade artists! This convention attracts school board members as well as district leaders from all over Texas.

Art Advocacy Booth

TAEA also presents an Arts Advocacy Booth in the exhibit hall, sharing information about various programs such as Youth Art Month, VASE, Membership, as well as student artist-led interactive demonstrations.

Student Artwork Registration for Convention Exhibit

Beginning Monday, August 17, 2026, ONE district representative will need to register all artwork for their district. Please click the link below (available during the registration window) to register all information and upload all TYPED Artwork Permission Slips and high-resolution images (JPEG) to the designated areas no later than Tuesday, September 22, 2026 at midnight. New this year, due to the increased participation, the txEDCON Exhibition will now be juried, similar to the YAM Spring Exhibition. All artwork selected for the txEDCON Exhibition will be printed, matted and labeled by the TAEA YAM Team. Original student artwork will NOT be mailed. We look forward to seeing artwork from every district in this year's exhibit!

• $12 per entry
• One entry per active TAEA Member Teacher (submitted by designated District Representative)

• Upload the following to the designated areas:
  • 2026-2027 Artwork Permission Forms — (English) (Spanish)
  • Artwork as a high-resolution JPEG — please refer to YAM's Photographing Artwork Entries (PDF) instructions to maximize the quality of the artwork you're submitting.
