Texas Art Education Association (TAEA) is proud to announce the selection of four art educators as the 2020 cohort of Leadership Scholars. The TAEA Leadership Scholar Cohort Program is designed to work in tandem with the TAEA Leadership Institute to provide the membership of the Texas Art Education Association (TAEA) with innovative, relevant, structured and supported professional growth focused on leadership skill sets to advance art education. The Leadership Scholars were selected from a large pool of applicants and will learn in depth about leadership in art education, service and structure of the Association and how they can grow professionally. The TAEA Leadership Institute is part of the Association's Strategic Plan for its members and future growth and impact.

Congratulations to our new Leadership Scholars!

My goal as a TAEA Leader: Through my influence as a TAEA leader, I would like to promote collaboration within the art community by coordinating more events with individual school district involvement. Being an educator in a public school district has made me aware of the lack of support for research and development of the visual arts. One of my goals as a leader would be to advocate and push the visual arts as a crucial part of the learning experience in the classroom.

My goal as a TAEA Leader: My goal is to address and find a solution to everyday issues that affect all art teachers through collaboration with educators across the state. Through this collaboration process, I hope to gain leadership skills that will assist me in future situations as I am faced with challenges.

My goal as a TAEA Leader: I would like to understand TAEA on a deeper level. As a new Region 20 Representative, I think it is imperative to know all that I can from a leadership perspective in order to better understand the organization so that I can lead others. I also would like to gain knowledge and understanding of other positions so that one day I may fill other positions as a lifelong TAEA member.
