Every student who earned a Division I (Superior) rating received the first-ever VASE medal, and all participants were provided copies of their Juror's Rating Form featuring constructive feedback and positive suggestions. After the event, the artwork, evaluation sheets, and medals remained at the site for final organization. The Division I pieces were categorized by division, and the top 50 from each division were selected to advance to the State VASE Event.
This groundbreaking pilot event also featured a week-long exhibit at the University of St. Thomas and an awards ceremony for students, parents, and teachers. All participants received medals and ribbons, while the top state winners were honored with a plaque. Afterward, participating teachers completed a survey, providing crucial data used to refine and adjust the second-year pilot held in February 1992.
