Chris Cooper Receives the Claire Flanagan Memorial Award

The Texas Art Education Association (TAEA) is pleased to announce that Chris Cooper has been named recipient of the Claire Flanagan Memorial Award by the Council for Art Education. Cooper who is the visual arts content leader for San Marcos High School is being recognized for her dedication to the advancement of art education within the classroom and across the State of Texas. She will receive the award at the 2016 National Art Education Association Conference in Chicago, March 17-19, 2016.

Ms. Cooper currently serves as Youth Art Month Vice-President for the Texas Art Education Association. The Council for Art Education sponsors Youth Art Month very March across the nation. The program emphasizes the value of art education for all you and encourages community support for art programs. Innovation and advocacy have been a hallmark of Chris Cooper's term as YAM-VP, seeing her enlarge the Capital Show during March to two venues at the State Capitol and the Bob Bullock Texas State History Museum. She has upgraded TAEA's presence at TASB/TASA Conference for school boards with student exhibition and student demonstrations along with advocacy materials. TAEA Leadership is extremely proud of Ms. Cooper's work on the behalf of the Association, membership and students of Texas.
