b'Impressionistic Watercolor the West Texas WayThe TAEARegionalWorkshopservestheneedformembersnotonlytostudydifferentart techniques and processes, but also a chance to interact with other art teachers that face some of the same issues in their classrooms. This summer Region 17 hosted a watercolor workshop open to all TAEA members presented by impressionistic watercolor artist Jo Beth Gilliam jobethwatercolors.blogspot.com.This year we had a number of participants from around Region 17, and participants from 4 other regions around Texas. Most participants were from smaller school districts that do not offer art content within their districts as an option for PD and CPE hours, while others came from as far away as Plano ISD to hangout in West Texas and see what we had to offer. To help steer the one day workshop to be less on composition and focus more on watercolor techniques, each participant started with an under drawing of a Country Store. Participants then worked with layers and paint saturation in a limited color palette. By the end each participant had a different painting that reflected the challenges they faced, yet resulted in their personalities coming through.'
