What is Youth Art Month?

March is National Youth Art Month and the State of Texas has been a leader in Youth Art Month celebrations since it began. TAEA sponsors a flag design contest, an exhibit of 100 pieces of student artwork, an YAM art exhibit at the State Capitol in Austin, followed by a new partnership with the Bob Bullock Texas State History Museum where TAEA will host the Awards Ceremony and Reception with an extended exhibition of the Youth Art Month artwork, as well as its participation with TASA / TASB each fall.

TEA Exhibit

YAM at TEA

The Texas Education Agency (TEA) in Austin has graciously invited TAEA to display artworks selected from the annual YAM State Capital Exhibit in their hallway galleries. A selection of student artworks representing quality Visual Art Education programs from Texas public school districts and private schools are showcased in this exhibit.

We appreciate TEA recognizing and rewarding student artists in this venue, and look forward to a long-running relationship with these state policy-makers. TEA also sponsors annual exhibits from our Senior VASE Gold Seal winners, and selected artworks from our TASA / TASB Conference Exhibit.

Each year, the Office of the First Lady of Texas selects a group of artworks from the YAM State Capital Exhibit to be showcased in the Governor's Business Office for one year. The works are framed by TAEA, and students are invited to a private reception in their honor.
