Amado Peña Jr. is a Mestizo artist of Mexican and Pascua Yaqui heritage, legally recognized as an 
Artisan of the Pascua Yaqui Tribe of Arizona. He is famed for his bold geometric lines, vibrant colors, 
and striking silhouettes juxtaposed against Southwest landscapes. His legacy includes being a key 
figure in the 1970s Chicano Art Movement. His work is permanently housed in the Smithsonian 
American Art Museum (Washington, D.C.), U.S. Department of State Art in Embassies Collection, The 
Heard Museum (Phoenix, Arizona), which is renowned for its world-class Native American art 
collection, the museum holds several of his signature Southwestern prints and mixed-media 
representations, National Collection of Fine Arts (Washington, D.C.), and the University Art Gallery at 
Clarkson University (Potsdam, New York). Amado is a former public school art teacher and university 
professor who co-founded the "Art Has Heart" Foundation to fund art scholarships for underserved 
youth.
