What I Love About TAEA: The main thing I hear from teachers is that conference reinvigorates their commitment to teaching. As a retired teacher / administrator, it helps inspire me to continue my mission to educate through the arts. In my teaching career in the inner-city, I found so many opportunities for my "kids" to broaden their expectations because of their education in the arts.

To Retired Teachers or "Sure Thinking About Retiring Soon" Teachers

Retired Art Educators

Retired art educators are invited to participate in activities designed to keep you active in our teaching organization and to encourage you to experiment and grow in your own personal art life. Those of you who have attended our Retired Art Educator meetings in recent years have been entertained by Cheryl Evans — our very own watercolorist, Ron Venable — a local area resident artist who discussed how he is getting into the Galveston art scene, and Walter Holland — a TAEA Fellow and producing artist. Walter spoke last year on how he has been able to get even more involved in his own art since retiring. We want to continue introducing you to interesting people and new ideas. Whether your retirement plans involve getting back into your own art, or traveling and visiting places that are on your dream list, we would like to encourage you to join our group.

We look forward to seeing you at this year's conference, November 2-4, at Moody Gardens in Galveston. TAEA will be offering a "One Day" Special Registration price, Saturday, November 4! This year, Janice and I will be hosting a Retired Art Educators Reception for Retirees on Saturday, November 4 in the Presidential Suite from 3:00-4:00 p.m., so come join us!
