11/03/03 - How do I register?
Click on the Participant Information link on the VASE home page. Then click the grade level that you wish to participate in. Now click the Teacher's Only link and follow the registration directions.
11/18/03 - What do I need to do to get started in VASE?
The first thing that every teacher or sponsor must do, whether you are a 6th through 8th grade teacher or a high school teacher, is to set up a Teacher Profile on the VASE website.
11/18/03 - When a teacher submits a teacher profile, they get an email listing their information and telling them they have been successful in setting up a profile, but they do not get a password. Without a password, how will they register students?
When a teacher profile is submitted, the Regional Director for that teacher receives an email informing them of a new teacher profile. The Regional Director must then logon and activate the teacher. Once the teacher is activated, they will automatically receive an email with their password. Once a password has been received, the teacher can begin to add student reservations.
11/18/03 - What are the date and locations of the Regional Events scheduled for this year?
To find the regional dates and information for your region, go to the VASE website www.ccisd.net/vase and click on Regional Information (in the red margin). Then click on Regional Index (in the blue margin). Select and click your Education Service Center (ESC) region. The Regional Director’s name and e-mail, and the Regional Event dates and locations are all posted here.
11/18/03 - If we participated in VASE last year, do we use the same login number as last year and will we be e-mailed a new password?
Each year that you participate in VASE, you will need to submit a teacher profile. Your login and password information will be emailed to you once your account is activated.
11/18/03 - What is the fee per student for the VASE event.
The fees for VASE are based on artwork entered, not students. The Regional entry fee is $10.00 per entry. Each student may submit a maximum of 2 entries. The state entry fee is $15.00.
11/18/03 - Are private schools allowed to participate in VASE?
Yes, as long as the sponsor teacher is a member in good standing of TAEA.
11/18/03 - I had 2 students that did not participate. I paid their entry fee. Is there any way to get that money back?
VASE expenses are set based on the number of entries. Not just the ones that attend. Judges fees, medals, workers payments, Mail-outs, etc. are fixed costs whether anyone shows up or not. As a result refunds are addressed in the bylaws. Students who do not attend VASE do not get a refund.
11/18/03 - Does VASE need an actual check in hand or can TAEA accept a PO number?
TAEA will accept a District P. O. for VASE entry fees if it is an official district document. Not a promissory note.
12/03/03 - I have a student who is graduating in December but wants to participate in VASE with artwork that she is producing this semester. Is this allowed?
Because of the UIL Side by Side ruling, all participants must be academically eligible. That also means they must be enrolled in a high school the day of the event.
01/06/04 - I nee to know the following information. To whom do we mail the Regional Entry fee check to? Also, what address do we send it to.
You must send your Regional Entry Payment to your Regional Director, along with you Regional (Teacher) Invoice. Checks should be made out to TAEA. Log-on to your teacher page, then click the Invoice and Print Menu. Click on your invoice to open it and print it. At the bottom of the invoice is the mailing address for your Regional Director.
