Saturday, 7:00 AM - TEACHER Required Check-In:
ALL participants, teachers & students, must officially check-in at this time at the
Registration tent between Bayou Building and Student Services Building.
- Regional Directors will check-in all teachers and students.
- Regional Directors will check that all required documents have been received:
1) State Invoice and Entry Fees received.
2) Original, Signed State Entry Certification Form each teacher.
3) State Graphic Release Form from each student.
4) State Teacher Check List from each teacher.
- Regional Director will give each teacher:
1) I. D. Badges for Teachers/Students
(I. D. Badges MUST be worn on UHCL Property)
2) Programsfor each student
3) Maps
Saturday, 7:30 AM - Workshop Registration:
Open registration for workshops will begin at 7:30am in the Registration tent, and will be held on a first come, first serve basis. Teacher Registration is required before any student may register for a workshop. Only qualified State VASE students with a nametag may participate in the workshops provided. Students will select 2 workshops to attend, and will be given tickets to present for entry into those sessions. Each student must register for his own workshops. Room assignments for the workshops will be provided at Teacher Registration.
Saturday, 8:00 AM - Orientation, UHCL Bayou Building:
All Regions will be assigned a specific room Official welcome and guidelines for the day.

Saturday, Times Tentative - Workshops Workshops offerings are subject to change and more offerings may be available on the day of the event.
Workshops will be conducted on Saturday, April 12, 2008 in the Bayou, Arbor, and Student Services Buildings on the UHCL campus.

Masterclass - Arthur Turner
Arthur Turner is a native Houstonian whom received his BA from North Texas State and MFA at Cranbrook Academy of Art.
He has been an instructor at James Madison University, Glassell School of Art, MFAH, and has conducted several workshops throughout Texas, Colorado, and Austria.
Mr. Turner's work has been included in numerous survey exhibitions including the Drawing Society National Exhibition, American Federation of Arts, MFAH, Stavanger Norway, Watercolor USA, to name a few. His first solo exhibition was in 1976 at Moody Gallery Houston where he continues to exhibit today.

Note: Only 20 students will be able to register for this session. It is a double session. Students who choose this workshop will stay in this session from 9:15 - 12:30. Registration is first come, first serve. In an effort to be fair to all, only one student per school will be permitted to register for this session. Students will select only this ticket.
Scholarship Workshop: TBA - Ricia Kerber
Students are given an artistic challenge and art materials. Students will produce a work of art within the time frame allotted. Works will be juried by a panel of jurors, and scholarships will be awarded during the Awards Presentation at the end of the day.
Portfolio Review: Garden Room - Sherry White
Bring your portfolio, sketchbook, finished or unfinished, see and talk with some of the greatest art schools in the country! Think of it as a mini National Portfolio Day, minus the crowds! Some scholarships will be offered on site! ALL students are invited - don€™t miss this incredible opportunity! This is a ticketed workshop.

College Expo 12:30-5:00 Atrium I & Garden Room
For each student attending the competition, the University of Houston-Clear Lake aims to foster hope and build belief that the dream of a college education can become a reality. This year, in order to further build that belief, the University of Houston-Clear Lake will host a College Expo during VASE as well as various college preparedness workshops and information for students, parents and teachers.

Julie Kirk is a historical figurative painter that transforms representational painting or social and religious issues into the Italian street painting tradition. She explores feminist theories and role of women and mothers in art.
